Timor-Leste Footbridges

Expanding Bridges to Prosperity's mission to include The Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste (East Timor) comes at a critical point in the development of the world’s newest nation. Timor-Leste had its independence restored on May 20, 2002 and has made significant progress since independence but remains weak in public and private sector capacity, and specifically poor infrastructure.

Bridges to Prosperity Director of Operations Avery Bang traveled to Timor-Leste in November of 2008 to conduct a feasibility study for a future program. Partnering with Parsons BrinckerhoffAustralia, representatives Bruce Johinke and Simon Douse assisted in the site-visits and meetings during the visit. Several sites were considered including sites in Manatuto, Sebada, Tatarima and near the central city district in Dili.
