El Rodeo Suspension Pedestrian Footbridge Project Slide Show Community Name: El Rodeo Bridge Sponsor: Flatiron Construction Partners: Flatiron Construction Volunteers: Dedication: Memorial: River Name: Quebrada La Majada Bridge Name: El Rodeo Bridge Span: 70 meters Pedestrian Footbridge Type: Suspension Population Served by Bridge: Approximately 1000+ people Expected Traffic: Approximately 100 per day Bridge Story: The crossing at El Rodeo, over a tributary of the Rio Pire serves at least five communities deep in the Mesa El Pilon mountains, a remote tobacco-growing region of the municipality of Condega. The stream swells tremendously during the rainy season, becoming a strong fast river, and the residents of the surrounding communities are forced to hike a several-hours-long detour to reach the main road to downtown Condega. A suspension bridge at this crossing will allow the residents to cross the quebrada without fear of being swept away and drowning.
