Jack S. Kenyon Memorial Canada Suspended Project Slide Show Memorial: Jack S. Kenyon, The Rotary Club of Bailey's Crossroads, Virginia, USA Partners: Helvetas Honduras, World Vision; Municipalities of Belen and La Campa; Community of Cerro Grande Corporate Partners: PB Bridge Name: Jack S. Kenyon Memorial Cañada Suspended Bridge Pedestrian Footbridge Type: Suspended Bridge Span: 85 meters / 279 feet Population Served By Bridge: 3000 people Bridge Story: More than 20 years ago World Vision built a 40m suspended cable bridge joining the municipality of Belen with the municipality of La Campa. The bridge was a life-line of trade between the 2 communities, and continues to be to this day, except that the bridge is now in disrepair. The floods swallow the lower portion and the bridge cannot be crossed. Trade comes to a standstill in those rainy months. This year, World Vision has returned to build a new bridge above the old in cooperation with Bridges to Prosperity, Helvetas Honduras, La Campa and Belen municipalities and the communities who cross the bridge. A safe bridge will be built and trade will go on for another 30 years. Click on the Google Earth™ logo-Project link below to see a satellite view of the bridge site.
