Tom Rademacher, CEO of Flatiron, has more than 30 years of experience in the construction industry, starting out as a carpenter and working up through the ranks to oversee a leading provider of transportation construction and civil engineering in North America.
As CEO, Tom has instilled a culture of corporate giving and social responsibility at Flatiron, fervently supporting many activities including Flatiron’s own Giving Back campaign. Most recently, Tom helped establish a unique partnership with Bridges to Prosperity that includes providing Flatiron employee volunteer teams to help build footbridges in Central America. Tom and his daughter, Katie, were able to join the Melara, El Salvador team, where he helped complete Flatiron’s longest suspension footbridge span (at 60 meters) to date.
The experience strengthened his belief in the importance of giving back. “I had high expectations of what I thought the experience would be and it certainly exceeded what I was hoping for,” he said. “The hard work, dedication and camaraderie were really fantastic. It was a great experience and I look forward to many more bridges.”
Tom grew up in San Diego, Calif., and has remained in Southern California for most of his life. He has two children, Nikki, 18, and Katie, 15.
