Steve Ormsby was born in Bath, New York, a rural community in southwestern New York State, and grew up in nearby communities. He entered the U. S. Air Force in the spring of 1977. He retired from military service in 1998 at the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. He served in a wide range of leadership capacities and he is a certified military Master Instructor and a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt.
He was a founder, President, CEO and Chairman of the Board of Alpha-Omega Change Engineering, Inc. a Virginia-based business. In addition to his executive duties, he has served as program manager, executive consultant, and training systems director for government and commercial clients.
He developed and led countless organizational and process improvement activities for commercial and government activities with teams ranging in size from five to over 2000. He has also developed, managed, or evaluated over 1000 adult education courses and electronic courseware systems, as well as evaluated over 1000 instructors at training locations around the world.
Now, semi-retired, he owns a management consulting and a photography firm. During his military and civilian careers he has traveled extensively, working in over 49 states and numerous countries in Europe, Asia, North and Central America.
Steve serves on our Executive Board and is the Chairman of our Finance Committee. He also assists as our Training Systems Advisor. He is an active member of Abingdon Episcopal Church in Gloucester, Virginia. He has served many years on the Vestry and is an Outreach Committee member, Holiday Meals on Wheels Coordinator, web master, and choir member. He also is a Grant Writer and Board member for the Watermen’s Museum in Yorktown VA.
He met and married Diane K. (Arahood) Ormsby, from Bloomfield Kentucky, while they were both serving on active duty with the Air Force. During their 30+ year marriage, they have lived in Illinois, Iceland, Utah, Texas, and Virginia. They have five adult children: Danielle and husband Mike, Kelly, and Kristofer and wife Krista; and three (plus one on the way) grandchildren: Kyle Ryan, Kailey, and Kellen.
