Janet Ellenbogen lived in numerous places while growing up, including Pennsylvania, Ohio, Maryland, and Wisconsin.  She earned a BA in psychology from Depauw University, an MBA from Michigan State University, and a Ph.D. in marketing from Arizona State University.  Janet joined the faculty of the Department of Marketing at Virginia Tech in 1984 and served in that position until her retirement in 2006.  In addition to serving on numerous committees in her position as a faculty member, Janet has volunteered with several local organizations, including Planned Parenthood, the Lyric Counsel, and a Virginia Tech/Blacksburg liaison group.  Recently, she has volunteered most extensively in the Blacksburg, VA schools and served as President of the Blacksburg Middle School PTA.  Janet enjoys biking, reading, golf, and travel; one of her most memorable adventures was a B2P trip to Chancaybanos, Peru where she, her son Matt, Ken Frantz, and Brendan Frantz worked on the Chancaybanos bridge.  Janet lives in Blacksburg, VA with her husband, Bill, and their two children, Matt and Courtney.

Mission Statement. Bridges To Prosperity is a volunteer based charity that seeks to empower poor African, Asian and South American rural communities through footbridge building, thereby advancing personal responsibility, community public works, economic prosperity, and access to schools, clinics, jobs, and markets.
