Daniel Jimenez

Daniel Jimenez is from Fairfax, VA. He attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology where he received his SB degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering in 2010, and his Masters in Structural Engineering in 2011. His graduate research investigated seismic masonry wall failure and reinforcement design, while his Masters project designed a high performance long span arch bridge.

While pursing his love for international cultural exchange and engineering in China and France, his involvement with the International Development Lab at MIT led him to initiate a social enterprise with partners in Zambia to improve local infrastructure through compressed earth block technology. Daniel was an NCAA varsity athlete on the MIT Men’s Swim Team and a member of the MIT Concert Choir. He participated in the ASCE Steel Bridge Competition for three years, placing 5th at Nationals in 2011. He enjoys swimming, running, hiking and playing piano.

Starting in July 2011, Daniel is a volunteer with Bridges to Prosperity in South America, and is excited for all the adventures and bridge building that await him.
