Amy Floren

Amy is a Structural Engineer for HNTB Corporation. Her experience includes the design, analysis and inspection of bridges.

She grew up on Long Island and has a BFA from the School of Visual Arts in New York City. After college, she worked at an architectural firm for a few years and then decided to return to school to study structural engineering. The art to engineering shift was considered a move to "big sculpture" with bridges. She spent three years in Buffalo and then did her final year at Glasgow University in the study abroad program.

After graduating with at BSCE from SUNY at Buffalo, she moved to Chicago and worked for a bridge engineering firm while getting a MSCE from the Illinois Institute of Technology. Since then she has lived in West Virginia (where they had a lot of bridge work, thanks to Senator Byrd), New Jersey and Utah. She has finally settled down in Portland, Maine and loves being a Mainer. She has volunteered with Bridges to Prosperity on the construction of footbridges in Peru and East Timor.
