Alvin Garrison

Linwood Alvin Garrison, Jr., C.P.A. is a Virginia native and has lived in the Hampton Roads area most of his life. He graduated from Elon University in 1967 with a BA in Accounting and 9 years later became a member of the local CPA firm, Hall, Cotman, Garrison & Roseberry. The firm went on to merge with Witt Mares in 2003 and Alvin retired in 2006.

Alvin has strong professional affiliations to such groups as the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, The Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants and he has served as president of the Peninsula Chapter of CPA’S. His community service has revolved mainly around the area of healthcare. He served on the Board of Directors and Past Chairman of the Board, Williamsburg Community Hospital; Board of Directors and Past Chairman of the Board, Williamsburg Health Services; Board of Directors, Williamsburg Community Health Foundation; Trustee and Board of Directors of the Sentara Healthcare System. Alvin has also served as a Board member of the Virginia Company Bank, Chairman of the Audit Committee and the Compliance Committee, Director and Secretary of the Clark Foundation, Past President of the Newport News Kiwanis Club.

Alvin is a member in the Williamsburg Rotary Club and was past president and current member of the Kingsmill Men’s Golf Association. His is presently serving as Executive Director of the Williamsburg Hotel & Motel Association.

Bridges To Prosperity is a volunteer based charity that seeks to empower poor African, Asian and South American rural communities through footbridge building, thereby advancing personal responsibility, community public works, economic prosperity, and access to schools, clinics, jobs, and markets.
